White Rock Lake
As one of the most popular parks in the Dallas Park system, White Rock Lake attracts thousands of people each year. If you are looking for a great trail for walking or biking, and opportunities to get out on the water by boat, cultural or natural history educational opportunities, a safe dog park or a great place to picnic – nique, you can’t go wrong with this. The lake itself covers more than 1,000 acres, and ownership of the park around it stretches even further. You will find green lawns, plenty of shade trees and cobbled streets everywhere.
If you’re into exercise and adventure, bring your bike or walking shoes and hike the 9.33-mile trail that winds along the coast and winds through the fields. Explore the dam near the dam. Stop by one of the many play areas suitable for children of all ages. Bring your picnic gear and sit on the grass to enjoy a delicious meal outdoors. Boating is also a popular pastime in White Rock Lake. Corinthian Sailing Club and White Rock Boat Club offer some of the opportunities to explore. You can rent kayaks or canoes subject to availability.
White Rock Lake also offers many opportunities for education and understanding about both history and nature. The Lady of the Lake ghost story might inspire you to explore the coast. The Bath Culture Center hosts a selection of live performances and workshops throughout the year. See plants and insects at the Dallas Arboretum. Consider booking a Big Thicket facility for your next event. Visit hatcheries, pumping stations and more to learn more about the area. The possibilities are virtually endless at this popular city park.
